New Product Release: Cobham Avionics is proud to announce that the US Army Research, Development and Engineering Command has approved the Artex ME406P and the ME406 BLACK Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELTs) for operation on UH/HH-60A/L/M "Blackhawk" aircraft. The ME406 BLACK is our first ELT specifically designed and manufactured with Army Aviation units in mind. Our goal is to improve combat capability, survivability, and system reliability in every product we produce to support the warfighter.
Fighter, bomber, surveillance, transport, helicopter, fixed wing, jets or turboprops, the variety of tasks undertaken by military aviation is equal to the variety of aircraft models.
Personnel recovery has always been an important mission task. The primary operational task of a Combat Search and Rescue operation is to locate, communicate and recover downed aircrews and isolated personnel. Locating the aircrew by visual or electronic search methods to pinpoint the survivor’s location and permit recovery is one of the first requirements. The Artex 406 MHz ELTs have provided rescue crews a tool to save countless lives. One of the latest challenges of Cobham Avionics - Artex Products' capabilities is the integration of ELT technology into UAVs (unmanned areal vehicles).
The long history of supplying components for the government (military, law enforcement) has resulted in an extensive National Stock Numbers (NSN) list of the various Artex products and to facilitate contracting, Artex Products has applied for an was approved with the GATM V program. To provide the best service to the entire supply chain of the military aviation Industry, Artex Products has teamed up with Dutch Valley and its Integrated Services department.
The Artex C406-1 and C406-2 series ELTs with or without ELT to NAV Interface and the C406-N Series of ELTs are the premier choices for new installations and upgrades of existing installations whether done at the military OEM’s facility or at one of the many depots. All Artex Products C406 series ELTs transmit on 121.5, 243 and 406 MHz emergency frequencies. The C406-N, specifically designed with military application in mind is equipped with rugged Mil-spec connectors with proven performance during any environmental challenge. Remote switches with or without night vision compatibility help the war fighters in performing their duties.
