ME-183 Navigation Interface
The ME-183 Navigation Interface unit links GPS devices that ouput NMEA-0183 protocol with the Artex ME406 beacon. In the event of ELT activation, the GPS location data is immediately sent to the ELT and included in to the beacon message being transmitted to the Cospas/Sarsat satellite system.
Current Artex ME406 owners, with this type of GPS, will be pleased to know that their existing ME406 should be compatible with the ME-183 Navigation Interface. By the push of a button on the automatic Reprogramming Adapter, an existing ME406 can be upgraded to long message format and accept the GPS signal coordinates.
